Big Bowls Weekend 2022

07 Jun 2022

BOWLS BIG WEEKEND EVENT & SPRING FAIR, 29th MAY

Some 150 members, family, friends and visitors attended the above event, which was blessed with fine weather. The fair included a cake stall, book stall, tombola, bottle raffle, find the jack competition, crockery smash and human fruit machine as well as refreshments from the kitchen; more than £600 was raised, a very welcome boost for Club funds.

Meanwhile nearly 40 people tried their hand at bowls including Deputy Mayor, Councillor Candy Vaughan and DGH consultants Ken Ross and Graham Watson, while younger children enjoyed target bowls using carpet bowls. Fingers crossed we’ll be picking up several new members at least from those who had the bowls taster.

A lot of hard work went into setting up the day – many thanks from the Committee to all involved – but the success of the fair and the bowling opportunity make the effort worthwhile. Some photos of the occasion are below.
